and has no means of private transport.

with public transport.

telephone contacts.

Achintraid, Ardaneaskan, Lochcarron, Strathcarron and up to Achnasheen
station.
We aim to provide drivers
-
Between
9 am and 8.30 pm, seven days a week
-
And
by arrangement to catch or meet the Wester Bus or trains
or otherwise in emergencies.
-
A
charge will be made of 15p for every mile a passe nger
is in the car.
-
Children
under 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
-
Drivers
will receive a mileage allowance from the scheme for al their
miles travelled.
-
To
use the scheme phone 01445 791436
b etween 9.30 am and 3 m Mondays to Fridays (outwith these times
the phone may not be answered at all or may be answered by someone
who knows nothing about the scheme).
-
Give
as much notice as possible, but at least 24 hours, though in
an emergency we will obviously do our best to help outwith these
times.
The volunteer telephone
contact will phone you back once a volunteer driver has been arranged.
This may take a little time.
Please remember these are volunteers. We cannot guarantee to
provide a driver every time, but we certainly hope to.
Please join together to book a car when this is applicable. If
you normally use a taxi or public transport or get a lift with
a friend who is going to the same place, please continue to do
so.
We are not here to compete with public transport or to undermine
the very admirable community spirit which exists within our communities,
but to offer help where it is needed.

Volunteering
If you have a little time to spare and would like to volunteer
to help with the car scheme please contact :

Drivers receive a mileage allowance and only do the journeys they
are able and happy to accept when asked. Telephone contacts work
from home on a rota basis, the telephone line is diverted to their
number during the hours they have said they will be on duty. They
receive an allowance for each call they make.
The more volunteers we have the fewer times anyone has
to operate.
